Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 13, 2026
This privacy policy explains how urlexpansion.com ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our URL expansion service.
1. Information We Collect
We collect very little data. Specifically:
- URLs you submit: When you paste a shortened URL and click "Expand", that URL is sent to our server to be resolved. We do not store or log the URLs you submit or the resolved destinations.
- Standard server logs: Like any web server, Cloudflare (our infrastructure provider) may log your IP address, browser type, and the time of your request for security and abuse prevention purposes. These logs are controlled by Cloudflare's own privacy policy.
- Usage counter (localStorage): We store a single numeric counter in your browser's localStorage (key:
urlexp_count) to track how many URLs you have expanded in the current session. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
2. Cookies and Third-Party Advertising
We use Adsterra to display advertisements on this site. Adsterra and its advertising partners may set cookies and use similar tracking technologies in your browser to:
- Serve personalized or contextual ads based on your browsing activity
- Measure ad performance and prevent fraudulent clicks
- Build anonymized audience segments
We do not control these third-party cookies. You can learn more about Adsterra's data practices at adsterra.com/privacy-policy.
To opt out of interest-based advertising more broadly, you can visit optout.aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.com (EU).
3. How We Use Information
The URL you submit is used solely to follow its redirect chain and return the final destination URL to you. We do not sell, share, or use submitted URLs for any other purpose.
4. Cloudflare Infrastructure
This site runs on Cloudflare Workers and is protected by Cloudflare's network. Cloudflare may process your IP address and request metadata as part of providing DDoS protection and routing. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.
5. Your Rights (GDPR — EEA/UK users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Because we do not store personal data beyond ephemeral server logs controlled by Cloudflare, there is generally no personal data for us to provide or delete. For advertising-related data, please contact Adsterra directly.
6. Your Rights (CCPA — California users)
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected and the right to opt out of its sale. We do not sell personal information. Ad serving through Adsterra may constitute "sharing" under CCPA for cross-context behavioral advertising; you may opt out via the link in Section 2 above.
7. Children's Privacy
This service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
